Best Engineering Education Avenues: Study of top BTech colleges in India

To be an engineer is everybody's dream. Consecutively engineering education is one of the best growing businesses in the current Indian scenario with India emerging as the largest producers of engineers each year. A study shows that 85% of 16 -18 olds have shown interest in pursuing engineering stream.
Best Engineering Education Avenues: Study of top BTech colleges in India

Engineering education is the activity of teaching knowledge and principles related to the professional practice of engineering. It includes the initial education for becoming an engineer and any advanced education and specializations that follow. Engineering education is typically accompanied by additional examinations and supervised training as the requirements for a professional engineering license.

In India, there are several engineering colleges imparting undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering, applied engineering and sciences. The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Anna University Chennai, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, the Indian School of Mines, (Now IIT Dhanbad), Gujarat Technological University Ahmedabad, the VIT University and University of Mumbai are the renowned and reputed institutes in the country. In total, more than 5000 universities and colleges offer engineering courses.

Let’s have a look at the three top BTech colleges in India:

1. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi or IITD)

IIT Delhi is one of the two educational institutes in India which have been listed in Quacquarelli Symonds’(QS) list of top 200 universities globally in 2015. IIT Delhi conducts various programs including bachelors, post-graduate and PhD degrees.

2. Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay or IITB

IIT Bombay, which is the second-oldest institute offers a wide variety of courses of study in engineering, pure sciences, design, management and humanities with a primary focus on engineering. IIT Bombay awards degrees, BTech, MTech, Dual Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech), Master Mgmt, M.Sc. and PhD.

3. Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT Kharagpur)

IIT Kharagpur or IIT KGP was the first of the IITs to be established conducts various programs including Bachelor, Dual Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech), Master Mgmt, M.Sc. and PhD.

Ironically, with so many top engineering colleges in India, only a small percentage of those who ‘pass out’ from engineering colleges do possess any skills worth the name at all. The engineers produced by the huge number of private engineering colleges which have come up after the government sanction for them add up only by way of numbers, in the absence of sound infrastructure, well qualified staff and no emphasis on imparting quality education.
