While mobile service operators like Vodafone, Airtel and Idea are busy slashing 2G rates for internet connectivity across India, the Vodafone has announced a Special Tariff Voucher (STV) of Rs.5.00 for its pre-paid customers.
This STV once activated will give you 24 hours of free incoming calls throughout India. Mind you only receiving calls are free, if you make a call you will be charged at 1.5 paisa per second. To activate this plan, you have to dial *444*500# and follow the instructions.
This is especially useful for pre-paid Vodafone subscribers who plan to visit some remote place for a few days. If you are planning on a bigger stay or extending your stay, you should try out the Vodafone's Rs.71.00 STV which will give you unlimited incoming calls while roaming for entire month. This plan is available for Post-paid Vodafone users too but the charges are Rs.75.00. Post Paid users can call the Vodafone customer care to activate this service.
With the 2G rates going down, the 4G coming to Mumbai and Delhi and the roaming rates going down we are going to witness connectivety 2.0 in India
